Hot Water Tank Tankless system
Cost Hot water storage tanks must keep water hot at all times, and require a minimum temperature of 140 degrees Fahrenheit to prevent diseases such as legionella. This constant temperature moderation means that you’ll be using more energy to keep water warm and increase your energy bill in the process. Tankless systems work to provide hot water on demand and will only consume energy when needed. The systems will idle until water is drawn, resulting in a decreased operational cost.
Efficiency 65% to 85% efficient. This means that for every $1 you spend on energy, 15-35 cents of it will be wasted. 97.5% efficient. This means that for every $1 you spend on energy, 2-3 cents of it will be wasted. This is a major efficiency boost when compared to traditional hot water tanks.
Capacity Limited. Hot water tanks can only provide heat to a maximum of 65% of their capacity. As an example, a 50-gallon tank can only provide a maximum of 32 gallons of hot water each hour. Unlimited. Tankless systems can provide heat to 100% of their water capacity. As an example, a 50-gallon tank can provide a maximum of 50 gallons of hot water each hour, a major improvement over traditional hot water tanks.
Size Large. Hot water tanks are big in size and require floor space in your home. Small. Tankless systems are compact in design and hung on a wall, requiring no floor space.
Life Expectancy 10 to 15 years. Once a hot water tank begins to wear and leak it becomes unfixable and must be replaced. 20 years. Tankless systems are repairable over their lifetime and can last for 20 years or more if maintained.

How Tankless Hot Water Systems work:

therm-devider

  1. As hot water taps are opened, water in the home will begin to run through the tankless system.
  2. As the water moves through the system, flow sensors will activate. This causes the ignition assembly to fire up.
  3. Once the ignition assembly is live, the combustion blower will start and the main control will check for safety and activation igniters.
  4. Once complete, the gas valve will open and allow for a steady flow into the combustion chamber. This supply of gas will be the exact amount needed to create a constant flow rate.
  5. Once the gas is flowing, the igniter will trigger and begin to heat up the water that is flowing through the heat exchanger tubes.
  6. The water will continue to flow through the primary and secondary heat exchanger tubes, absorbing the heat produced by the burners as it continues to circulate
  7. The system’s main control will actively monitor the temperature of the water flowing from the tankless system and will adjust the gas valve as needed to ensure stable temperatures.
  8. Following successful temperature moderation, the water will arrive at the designated faucet at a temperature and flow rate that is consistent with the end user’s specifications.

  • High Efficiency: Tankless are upto 98% efficient which saves you on energy bills, compare to 70% eff. conventional hot water system.
  • Space: Tankless are compact in size and installed at wall so it saves you lots of floor space which can be used for storage or other purpose.
